Hand-built ceramic using three Mexican clay bodies from Zacatecas, Oaxaca, and Puebla; artist-formulated glazes; reduction-fired.
5 × 5 × 12 in

Built from three clay bodies originating in Zacatecas, Oaxaca, and Puebla, this sculpture treats clay as a material archive of place. The regional clays converge within a single hybrid figure, connecting the body to Mexican traditions of pottery, ritual, and the cultural intimacy between life and death. Artist-formulated glazes and reduction firing allow fire and atmosphere to alter the surface, leaving visible traces of transformation. Rather than depicting Mexican identity through a single recognizable symbol, the work locates it within the material itself: distinct territories held together in one body.
