Paisaje de mi perpetua Susu
2024
Glazed low-fire ceramic, dried plant matter, and wood
10 × 8 × 12 in

Paisaje de mi perpetua Susu begins with the idea that a companion can be portrayed not only through physical likeness, but through the emotional world they create around us. Inspired by my dog Susu, the sculpture merges animal, human, and botanical forms into a hybrid presence. The flowered halo and preserved plant material transform portraiture into an emotional landscape, while the natural wood anchors the figure in the living world. The work considers companionship as a form of world-making: a bond capable of reshaping memory, identity, and the meaning of home.
